Resource Allocation Scheme for SDN-Based Cloud Data Center Network

Cloud Data Center Network (CDCN) isreceiving considerable attention and becomes one ofthe hottest topics among academia and industry. It isdifficult to deliver the new emerging network servicesin a flexible way and to fulfill the huge amount ofdemand with better performance in a current datacenter network. Traditional routing cannot provideaccessible performance for all traffic types, and itcan cause excessive link utilization in the network. Inthis paper, we propose the resource allocationscheme to support Quality of Service (QoS) forvarious types of traffic while maintaining the networklink utilization as much as high. We present aresource allocation scheme based on SoftwareDefined Networking (SDN) that integrates theproposed scheme to provide better performance inCDCN. We demonstrate the effectiveness of theproposed scheme on the emulated SDN network. Theproposed scheme is compared with the conventionalshortest path scheme. Emulation results showed thatthe proposed scheme provides better performance interm of packet loss rate for the QoS traffics and greatimprovement in link utilization.
