<dc:title>Socialization of Mon National in Hinthagon in Mon tradition and custom</dc:title>
          <dc:creator>Zin Mar Latt</dc:creator>
<dc:description>Socialization is a lifelong process, and it links the individual, the society, and the&#13; culture. Mon parents living in Hinthagon teach their children since infancy Mon&#13; language, Mon literature and how to be dressed as Mons, which together constitute their&#13; ethnic identity. They also have them socialized through participation in religious and&#13; social activities of Mon tradition. The children develop a sense of subjective ethnic&#13; identity and also that of responsibility to maintain Mon culture. Therefore, to the Mon&#13; nationals in Hinthagon socialization leading subjective ethnic identity is an important&#13; factor to maintain their ethnic identity as Mons. The objectives of this paper are to elicit&#13; how the Mons in Hinthagon maintain their ethnic identity, how they have children&#13; socialized through Mon traditional activities, and what are the results of that&#13; socialization. To implement those objectives, enquiries were made of parents, guardians,&#13; and teachers of Mon literature through In-depth Interview and Key Informant Interview.&#13; To be more comprehensive, the children were also asked questions through In-depth&#13; Interview. The questions were so formed as to bring out the Mon‟s cultural traits&#13; contributing to Mon identity. Data were added to by the way of taking photographs and&#13; recording the talks.</dc:description>
