Implementation of Sales Data Warehouse Using Materialized View Aung, Thuzar A distributed database is not stored in itsentirety at a single physical location. Instead, it isspread across a network of computers that aregeographically dispersed and connected viacommunications links. A distributed databaseallows faster local queries and can reduce networktraffic. It allows applications to access data fromlocal and remote database. In distributedenvironments, materialized views are used toreplicate data at distributed sites and synchronizeupdates done at several sites with conflictresolution methods. The user should not need toknow where a piece of data is stored physically. Ifmaterialized views are used, DatabaseAdministrator (DBA) can easily manage thedatabase without too much effort. Utilizing thematerialized views can not only reduce systemerrors but also improve system performance.
