Ontology based Categorization of News Article Documents Thaw, Phyo Wai Nowadays, the number of electronically availableinformation and knowledge from the internet israpidly growing. Therefore it becomes difficult tofind relevant information users need. The mostsuccessful example to organize this mass ofinformation is classifying different text documentsaccording to their topics. Text categorization is ageneral tool for information retrieval, knowledgemanagement and knowledge discovery. In this paper,ontology based news articles documentscategorization is introduced. In the process ofcategorization the incoming news document iscategorized into possible concept(s) from apredefined set of concepts. The ontology provides ahierarchical structure where each concept can betreated as a category. Then news can be retrieved bykeyword and concept later.
