<dc:description>Web-based tutoring systems are increasinglypopular due to their appeal over traditional paperbasedtextbooks. Whereas many tutoring systems arestatic HTML, the Bayesian intelligent tutoring systemcan help a student navigate through the onlinecourse materials, recommend learning goals, andgenerate appropriate reading sequences. This paperpresents a Bayesian intelligent tutoring system forcomputer programming, called BITS. The decisionmaking process of this system is guided by Bayesiannetworks, which are a formal framework foruncertainty management in Artificial Intelligencebased on probability theory. The primary function ofan agent is to help the user better use, manage andinteract with the computer applications. Intelligentagents perform tasks for students as a dynamic, personal, and smart learning environment. InIntelligent Tutoring System, the student model hasthe ability of recording information on students. Withthis information, teaching and learning can proceedin a variety of ways based on their needs andinterest.</dc:description>
