Preventive Maintenance for Virtualized Local Disaster Recovery Plan Paing, Aye Myat Myat Thein, Ni Lar Preventive maintenance combined with disasterrecovery planning will help to minimize thehardware and software problems if disaster occurs.Disaster recovery processes involve unplannedinterruption of services. Unplanneddowntime is mainly caused by software failuredue to software aging rather than hardware failure.Preventive maintenance (software rejuvenation)is used to counteract the software agingphenomenon. In this paper, we propose preventivemaintenance model for virtualized local disasterrecovery plan through a stochastic Petri netmodel. In the proposed model, active-standbyvirtualized clustering architecture is employed.We analyze how preventive maintenance canimprove the system availability of virtualizedlocal disaster recovery plan.
