Identity Card Number Recognition System using Artificial Neural Network Thin, Khin Saw Yu Han, Thwe Mu This paper proposes a system for recognizing theidentity card number. The quality of the color image ofidentity card is enhanced by image filtering technique.Color sensing is carried out to get the image portionof the identity card number . Noise canceling isperformed to remove the unwanted pixel areas. Thecharacters and digits are segmented out individuallyby horizontal and vertical Histogram projections. Theindividual images of printed Myanmar characters andhandwritten Myanmar digits are resized intopredetermined size to get uniformity. Thesepreprocessed images are applied into the ANN of theproposed system. The ANN is de signed with threelayers; input , hidden and output layer. The outputvalues of the output layer are the certaint y values ofdigits and characters. The highest certainty outputvalue is the digit or character that is recognized by thenetwork.
