Recommender System for Movies using Content-based Filtering Phyu, Su Pwint Thein, Lay Myat Myat Information filtering systems, whichrecommend appropriate information to users fromenormous amount of information, are becomingpopular. Recommender systems are programswhich attempt to predict items that a user may beinterest in and depends on information providedby the users to gather knowledge. Content –basedfiltering systems are based on profile attributes. Incontent-based filtering, items are matched eitherto a user’s interest profile or query on the basis ofcontent. Content-based system does not use anypreference data and provides recommendationdirectly based on similarity of items.Contentbasedrecommendation systems may be used in avariety of domains ranging from recommendingweb pages, news articles, restaurants, televisionprograms, and items for sale. This system is animplementation of recommender system for moviesusing content-based filtering method.Rated moviesfrom IMDb are used in this system.
