<dc:title>A STUDY ON MALARIA CONTROL ACTIVITIES AMONG MIGRANT WORKERS (A CASE STUDY OF KYAIKTO TOWNSHIP) (Pyae Phyo Htoon, 2019)</dc:title>
          <dc:creator>Pyae Phyo Htoon (EMPA - 55)</dc:creator>
<dc:description>This study was conducted to assess malaria situation among migrant workers&#13; working in the private sectors and to identify the needs to strengthen malaria control&#13; activities for migrant workers. The study was conducted with desk review of&#13; secondary data and qualitative interviews with interview guide in the field. Purposive&#13; sampling is conducted for the primary research and consists of 18 key informant&#13; interviews with business leaders and governmental and private sector key actors. The&#13; malaria risk is highest among the workers of rubber plantation and gold mine due to&#13; their timing of working hours, working place, seasonal pattern of work, high number&#13; of migrant workers, not getting enough preventive, diagnostic and treatment&#13; measures. Among these two types of high risk workers, the workers from gold mines&#13; show higher risk than those of rubber plantation because predominantly migrant&#13; population, high mobility of its workforce, hard-to reach area and site of work closed&#13; to forest and seasonal pattern of work nature. Another challenge is that the total&#13; numbers of its workforce is not only unknown but also unrecognized.</dc:description>
