          <dc:description>This paper investigates on municipal solid waste management in Nay Pyi Taw
Union Territory. The objectives of the study are to assess the awareness and
participation of the Nay Pyi Taw Citizens in municipal solid waste management and
to examine the challenges facing the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee in
municipal solid wastes management. In this study, 200 respondents are asked to
collect the data. Their responses are gathered through interviews and questionnaire
surveys with a self-administered questionnaire. It is found that most respondents get
the information awareness concerning with municipal solid waste management from
TV/ Radio. Nearly half of respondents dispose solid waste by municipal service. It is
also found that the respondents are strongly agree level on the awareness and attitude
for municipal solid waste management and are agree level on the participation of
municipal solid waste management. Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee has many
challenges in municipal solid wastes management especially advantaged technology,
skillful staffs and workers, laws and regulations, budget requirement, separation and
disposal system, plans for sustainable waste management system, and creating
awareness programs. Therefore, Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee should
encourage the awareness and participation in the disposing and management of the
municipal solid wastes and draw short term and long term plans to be effective
services for public.</dc:description>
