Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension through Discourse Markers Ei Shwe Cin Pyone Scholars have found that reading comprehension is crucial element of second language learning. Students sometimes have some difficulties in understanding a text, therefore, they fail in answering to the comprehension questions. The present study aims at investigating the relationship between discourse markers and reading comprehension in second language (L2) and FL teaching and learning process. Later, it provides some motivational activities for the teaching of discourse markers. This paper concludes that discourse markers do occupy a position in second language learning and teaching, therefore, it is quite necessary to pay enough attention to these linguistic signals as well as intentional cues and encourage students to apply and use them correctly and appropriately. 2018-12-01 http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12678/0000007836 https://meral.edu.mm/records/7836
